Wow! What a week! The boys started school as Prosper Eagles on, Monday, August 26! They all 3 had fabulous weeks and the smiles were consistent all week long. No tears (by them, at least) and they really seem to be happy with their new schools, teachers and friends! Which makes this Momma, Happy, Happy, Happy (thank you Phil Robertson)!
My heart is soaring now that they have had a week of school and seem to adjusting so smoothly! This was the biggest hurdle for me. I wanted to see my boys transition into school. I never ever imagined it could go this well! And they are coming home with some really great stories! Luke loves changing classes and having his own schedule. He also really likes having a locker! He had his football team to sit with each day at lunch and he is making new friends in addition to his teammates. :) I think he really likes getting a chance to interact with so many different kids each day now that he rotates classes!
Maxwell loves his new teacher and enjoys all the fun chants that they say at his school! He also really likes meeting so many new kids. He will be happier each week as he gets to know every single 2nd grader... and I mean that literally! I love listening to Max-man sing his American pride songs that he is learning each day at school, too!
Jason is growing so much each day he goes to school! It is really quite amazing! He is learning proper greeting techniques, all about germs and also learning to read sight words in addition to number excercises! His kindergarten songs having me grinning each night. I especially love to hear him sing those songs when he is in the shower and doesn't realize he has an audience. In Texas, they sure do know how to build school spirit and American spirit! I love it!
As much as I love all that they are bringing home each day, I did have a tough time on that first day of school! Kevin had to drop off Luke and I had to take Max and J. I did a great job and didn't allow any tears to slip until after I left the last room. (gosh, I'm thankful for sunglasses!) I did very well and just had a hard time seeing my babies getting so big. Plus, J's teacher had us kiss our child's hand as a secret to them that later in the day they would be reading "The Kissing Hand." That about pushed me over the edge. I just thought back on how many times I've read that book to each of my sons over the years. I certainly had a boohoo moment, then!
It was also tough to leave J since he is my only son to attend full day kindergarten! Luke attended morning only and Max attended afternoon only. J is my last and attending all day!
As a kindergarten parent, I was also able to attend the "Tears and Cheers Breakfast" put on by the school PTO. It was nice to meet some other parents that were in the same boat as me... leaving our little ones at all day school for the first time.
So I had some tears that first morning, but only grins ever since because I'm so thrilled by how the school year started for all 3 boys. I'm so proud of how they have transitioned and adapted to their new life in Texas! Just so happy!! :)
(I'm posting this late because I couldn't get the photos to post. I've had it written since the last week of August...the boys' first week of school.)
